Christmas light string magnetic hook (No Supports)
Description
Thanks to TobyCWood for the original model! We really liked that one, so we downloaded it, went online, and ordered some magnets! Which arrived as 15mm/2.6mm. Huh. Well that wasn't the advertised size.... and we're kind of running out of time on this project, sooooo, life and lemons and all that jazz. We decided to modify the model. And since the magnets were kind of weak compared to the size we were expecting, we figured we will probably need to print a lot more than originally planned... maybe 30-60. I didn't want to have to deal with peeling supports off 30+ tiny hooks - I took the original model, widened the hook to make it as wide as the base, then used a cube to boolean the sides on around a 45° angle to make that the new printing face. This had the bonus effect of making the print lines go lengthwise along the hook which should also make them stronger. Our intent is to use some UV spray, then try that shoe glue mentioned in the original version of this model to glue in the magnets. If that works out well, start printing the rest until we're exhausted and our lights are successfully mounted outside. We'll probably slap up a few more magnet sizes in the near future.
