Left Handed TIPX Holster
Description
Most holsters for a TIPX (or equivalent) draw from the top. That is great until you add customizations to the front of the TIPX such as a large mock silencer, foregrip, flashlight, etc. I was inspired by the left-handed speed holster. However, that holster only locks onto the inside of the trigger guard (insufficient for a drop-leg platform that needs to perform while moving quickly), and the TIPX is only held in place by a sliding lock on the inside-trigger guard mount, which could easily break with side force. This holster is my own version (built-up from scratch just using the previous version as conceptual inspiration) that locks fully around the trigger guard (inside and outside) and uses a rotating lock around the top of the TIPX. It is easy to draw from the side while still having multiple lock points to retain the TIPX during motion. The adapter to carry is sized for a single-strap drop-leg platform, but can easily be mounted on a belt. Hardware required: 2 - M3x20mm machine screws with nuts for mounting the rotating locker to the gun mount. 1 - 7mm diameter x 10-12mm length compression spring for keeping the rotating locker open when TIPX is drawn 1 - 7mm diameter x 10mm length compression spring for pushing the button into the lock position on the gun mount 1 - M3x20mm machine screw for mounting the button onto the gun mount 1 - M2.5x6mm machine screw for mounting the adapter to the gun mount 1 - M2.5x16mm machine screw for mounting the adapter to the gun mount 2 - M2.5x14mm (or M2.5x16mm with 3 washers) for mounting the adapter to the gun mount 4 - M2.5 nuts for mounting the adapter to the gun mount Assembly: Mount the button onto the gun mount. Place the button in-place, push into the "locked" position, and insert the spring. Then, thread the screw into position. Screw until the head of the screw is flush with the inner trigger guard mount edge (such that the trigger guard can go into place). The button should move back and forth along the machine screw now. Attach the adapter to the mount. I first attached the two screws on the non-split side of the adapter. Once those were in place, I mounted the adapter to my drop-leg platform (or to belt), then attached the other two machine screws, so the adapter and gun mount are firmly attached to however you are wearing the holster (in my case, the drop-leg platform). Attach the locker to the gun mount. Press fit the two nuts into position. Thread the two machine screws until just past flush with the nuts. Press the spring into the hole in the gun mount. Hold the locker in position (compressing the spring), and thread the two screws in. Note that there will be some space between the locker and the gun mount on either side of the locker. Don't thread so fully in that you remove this space, as the locker needs to be able to rotate. Ready for action!
