Printable shredder

Printable shredder

Description

The Obliterator Shredder is a paper/can shredder I designed with the sole intent of needing nothing more than a few bearings. This shredder is designed to be printed on a large format printer with a minimum printable area of 400x400x400, but the shredder head itself has a lot of parts that can be easily printed using a smaller machine. My own testing with PLA shows the ability to cut through up to 3 sheets of paper before gears begin to strip, but results will vary based on the materials used and the accuracy of your parts and post processing. This is a manually powered shredder, but it can be easily adapted to a motor with a coupler that fits a 25.4mm square key. The ONLY parts of this that can be printed hollow are the frames, frame lids, frame and lid locks, the chute and its handle, and the collection bin. EVERY OTHER PART MUST BE SOLID!!! I cannot stress this enough, because of the kind of torque you are applying here is very capable of easily demolishing the machine itself if the parts are not strong enough. Lastly, every part of this shredder is designed to be printed and assembled using as little hardware as possible. Ideally, you should only need 13 of the 608z bearings, a rubber mallet, and maybe a file for fine tuning the print fit, and maybe a little grease to quiet the gears and help them do their thing.
