PA28 Seat Bumper
Description
The seat back bumpers on my 1966 Piper Cherokee, PA28-180C crush and frequently need replacing. This was, I postulated, due to the flat top and bottom that didn't align with the seat frame when folded. I created this design to better align the face of the bumper top and bottom with the seat frame to allow better weight distribution and hopefully reduce the replacement frequency. I've included 3 sizes, original height (16mm) and two shorter sizes. I found the original height caused the seatback to be in a too upright position. The shorter sizes allow you to tune the seat back angle to your liking. The washer from the original bumper should be removed and inserted into the new bumper. It will be tight to press in, but with TPU as the filament, should give enough to allow it to get to the slot provided internally. Note: I printed mine out of TPU using a 0.6mm nozzle with a 0.3 mm layer height with 50% infill with an Adaptive Cubic pattern. I believe this combination provides acceptable rigidity and flex for my seats.
