Skinfold Caliper Extensions

Skinfold Caliper Extensions

Description

I've recently learned how to take skinfold measurements to measure my bodyfat % and realized it is a very low-tech measurement in millimeters. Unless you're a die-hard and care about this measurement in tenths of a millimeter, this will work just fine to get you decent measurements. Since most makers will have Harbor-Freight calipers at home, I thought it made sense to make attachments for them specifically. I don't know if these will fit other calipers of similar design, but comment if they work out! These will be a pretty snug fit but I assure you they do go on; with that being said, it is a simple matter to run them under hot water for 30 seconds and to then attempt sleeving them on. The idea is that the very tips won't move, so close the caliper with sufficient force to keep them in a resting position. I've found that using the thumbwheel will supply enough force that it closely resembles regular plastic/spring devices. What is important of course is just being consistent in the measurements and using the same tool each time! Alternatively, these make for rather handy non-marring external measurement extensions; just zero the caliper at the working pressure you normally clamp and boom! Happy making! :)
