OnePlus Open Lens Filter and Belt Mount

OnePlus Open Lens Filter and Belt Mount

Description

I like to use camera filters with my cell phone cameras. My most frequently used filter is a CPL (circular polarizer) to reduce sky glare in outdoor photos and videos. The OnePlus Open camera module is sized exactly right for a 62mm filter, but it has no built-in threads to accept a filter (until, maybe, someone makes a case with threads--hint hint). So, I designed a snap on filter mount for 62mm filters. The filter shown in the photos is a K&F Concept 62MM Circular Polarizer (Nano-X Series). Although the filter mount does not have threads, it does have print layer ridges that make snapping a threaded filter into it very easy. I found 0.150mm layer height gives the best results for fit and retention. The belt clip module features easy snap in retention for the filter mount when not in use on the phone, and has a storage compartment underneath for lens wipes, lens cloth, brush, etc. I also included an eyelet inside the compartment to attach a string between the compartment and a lens cloth, so I can use the lens cloth without fear of dropping it. The belt clip module has a circular depression sized exactly to press in a 6x2mm magnet. I mounted a string and second magnet to a lens cover so I don't have to worry about jugging stuff when handling the lens filter mount (just let the lens cover dangle). The string is attached to this second magnet using a small blob of epoxy putty. It's easy to pop the two magnets apart to keep the cover with the filter when on the phone. Plus, the magnet sticks to the phone case's Magsafe ring, keeping it teathered to the phone when used this way. Alternatively, the lens cover can be snapped over the belt clip module without the lens filter mount to keep items sealed in the compartment, protected from dust. The pictures should make all this clear. Finally, the belt clip module's clip is designed as 2 bands of material, rather than a single solid piece. This it to allow it some springiness when stretching it over a belt. I use this gadget frequently. It has been very handy and convenient. My wife and I walk trails daily, and it's great to have an easy-to-use filter handy in case I want a quick picture in bright sunlight.
