Retro Chic Straight Ornament
Description
A fun, elegant, and quick print for Christmas based on traditional finial designs. **NOTE: This is a work in progress.** The STLs are final and slice cleanly. I just haven't had a chance to test print this as much as I'd like. However, Christmas is just around the corner. So, I'm sharing what I have. There are two versions of the design: one with a spiral center ball and the other with a straight center ball. I've only printed the spiral so far - with a 0.25mm nozzle. That's why I only show the one design in the cover photo. I've provided a screenshot from Blender to show you how the two designs compare. I've modified my 3MF files to work for 0.4mm nozzles, adjusting layer height, temperature, perimeters, and top/bottom thickness. Since I haven't printed them, consider the 3MF files suggestions for now. I'll add my GCODE files for a Prusa MK3S+ once I've had a chance to test them. I've provided the STLs as both whole ornaments and cut in 2 pieces down the middle of the center ball. I printed the 2-piece version and aside from a minor seam, it looks pretty much flawless. You're welcome to try to print these as a single piece or cut them somewhere else. With a 0.4mm nozzle and my settings, each ornament should take about 6 hours to print. To assemble them, just add a few drops of super glue and take your time aligning the pieces. I found that stacking two filament rolls makes a great stand to hold the ornament while aligning the pieces and letting them dry.
