Anycubic Kobra+ Top Mount Single Spool II v2 (For Direct Drive)
Description
I decided that I needed a top-mounted spool holder to feed the pseudo-direct drive conversion I created for my Kobra Plus. I also decided that I wanted this spool holder mount to have the ability to accessorize. This is the end result. The spool holder mount itself is a simple design. It tilts back at about 14 degrees for better placement of the filament as it comes off the spool. I designed it to use four 3mm bolts and four sliding T nuts so that the overhead gantry need not be taken apart to attach the mount. 3mm bolt assortment: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C7ZPZ214 Sliding T Nuts: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08NZMD2BJ This overhead spool holder should also be compatible with any overhead gantry that uses a slotted aluminum bar with a 20mm slot facing upwards. The spool holder itself was sourced from Ulices AH (https://www.thingiverse.com/hasecilu) and can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5066264 (you will only need the SpoolHolder-Holder & the SpoolHolder-SpoolNut). You will need to source a 160mm long piece of M8 threaded rod (with a 1.25mm thread pitch), two 608 bearing assemblies, two 8mm stop nuts, and two 8mm washers. 3mm bolt assortment: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072F5WF4T <*** An added I discovered is that if you are careful when tightening the stop nuts, the stop nuts will exert just enough pressure to not allow the spool holder to spin freely 100% and it results in a very gentle brake that keeps the filament from unwinding too quickly due to the printhead's motions. ***> I've also added the first accessory I made for the spool mount. It's the holder that I put together for the Kobra Plus filament sensor. To assemble it and attach the printer's filament sensor, you will need a couple of 3mm bolts and a couple of 3mm lock nuts. You will also need to remove the 'tail' that is incorporated in the filament sensor. To remove the tail, you need only split the casing of the filament sensor (it's super easy) and then, after removal, press the casing back together. Attach the sensor to the holder using the hole in the casing that is nearest to the filament entry point. When tightening the sensor's mounting bolt, do not overtighten it and allow the sensor to have plenty of movement capability. To assemble and attach the sensor mount, please assemble the mount in the order shown in the picture and make sure the rear plate is placed behind the center hole of the central support of the spool holder mount. The rear plate has a molded cavity for a 3mm lock nut. Depending on the length of the wiring harness that came with your filament sensor, you may need to splice some longer wires into it for it to be able to function at its new location. Enjoy!
