Algae Based Composite (ABC) Vice Press Molding
Description
I would like to express my gratitude to Aidan Leitch, whose "Recycled Cardboard Molding" 3D model served as a significant source of inspiration for the design presented here. Although initially utilizing Aidan's model, I encountered challenges as the pressure required for molding the algae caused leakage and breakage along the edges. Subsequently, I developed my own design to address these issues. For reference, Aidan Leitch's inspiring 3D model can be found at: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3912997 Explore more of Aidan Leitch's designs at: https://www.thingiverse.com/xyzaidan/designs The designed mold serves the purpose of pressing A-B-C, a composite of filamentous algae with a binder, to offer a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to traditional packaging. This innovation is intended for presentation at a school science fair. To use the mold, simply place the prepared A-B-C mixture inside and employ a vice clamp to extract the liquid, resulting in the creation of small samples for testing and demonstration purposes. Once the samples have dried, they can be easily removed by breaking or cutting off the two sides equipped with grooves.
