Linear Analog Pinball Plunger Bracket

Linear Analog Pinball Plunger Bracket

Description

I wasn't going to shell out $100 for a plunger for my Visual Pinball table, so I decided to try my hand at making my own. The ease of this build is the FRDM-KL25Z board running free Pinscape software found at http://mjrnet.org/pinscape/. You'll obviously need this board along with some specific parts like a linear pot and a plunger rod. This one I have pictured looks almost identical to the ones I've seen on At Games machines. Surprisingly good quality and very cheap from China via AliExpress. It's designed specifically for the listed linear potentiometer. Also cheap and works fantastically. Other slide pots may be different configurations- be sure to get a 100mm one and you could probably tweak this to meet your needs. The one listed has convenient pinouts in one location. Get 2, they're cheap. Holes are provided for mounting to the side and inside front of your pinball cabinet. I suggest screwing it to the cabinet before installing the plunger rod. It's made for a 1/2" cabinet thickness. A 3/4" cabinet thickness may require remodeling. However, calibrating this within the Pinscape settings program should allow you to use this same configuration even in a thicker cabinet frame. The Shuttle gets installed between the c-clip and small washer (see post print pic). Remove the c-clip, insert the plunger rod, put on the large washer and nut on the inside of the cabinet but don't tighten yet. Then put on the long spring, then the small washer, compress the spring and slide on the shuttle, then c-clip. Fit the shuttle onto the slide tab and then tighten the large retaining nut against the large washer. This is a work in progress. I haven't built the cabinet yet, so it's subject to change when I finally get a big box built.
