Bass Clarinet Peg Stand Adapter (Hercules DS561B)
Description
### My everlasting bass clarinet stand struggle... Bass clarinets are fantastic but bass clarinet stands are rare. It gets even more difficult if you play a Low Eb bass clarinet. Bass clarinet stands are originally designed to rest the bell of a Low C bass clarinet on them. If you adjust the peg of your Low Eb bass clarinet to its playing height, it usually is too long and gets in the way when you try to put the instrument securely in the stand. This is really annoying if you do not want to readjust the peg everytime you park the instrument in its stand. Having struggled with an old K&M 150/1 MKII Bassoon/Bass Clarinet Stand over years, I got myself a Hercules DS561B Bassoon/Bass Clarinet Stand and faced the same problem as before. Not wanting to drill a hole or saw a slot into the cup of the new stand, I figured I need to find a printable solution. ### My solution 1. Print my adapter - preferably with TPU 95A. 2. Remove the screw and the cup from the *Hercules DS561B* 3. Put the adapter on the leg of the stand, push the threaded rod of the cup through the hole and screw on the wing screw again. 4. Slide the peg of your Low Eb bass clarinet into the slot of the adapter and adjust the neck holder accordingly. ### My final thoughts Now the instrument sits securely in the stand, you can pick it up quickly and start to play without having to adjust the peg. 🤩 But you are still free to shorten the peg and rest it on the bell if you plan to leave it in the stand for a longer time. You just got one more option to choose from. 😊 It might work if you print the adapter from PLA filament but it is absolutely indestructible in TPU. Just throw the stand in your car boot without worrying about you 3d printed adapter. 😎 I can just guess that the little bit of extra flex might also make the process of taking the bass clarinet out of the stand more enjoyable...
