TPU Spool Holder (Mod for Filament Storage Box)
Description
I combined Laisch's frictionless spool holder with Tatuus' Ultimate filament Storage box spool holder in order to get better extrusion from TPU when printing from the DIY dry box. So far it's worked wonderfully. I print in a very small humid corner and don't have much space for the dry box but with this mod the filament pulls out with very little to no friction so the TPU prints don't suffer. The mod just replaces Tatuus' original spool holder for one that takes two 608 skateboard ball bearings. I printed it in PLA 20% infill as recommended by Tatuus. You will need to print this with the two pieces from Laisch's design labeled "Bolzen" and print the piece labeled "Shell" I also find the filament feeds much more smoothly if you drill the outflow hole for the bowden slightly higher than the midpoint of your spool. Mine feeds out from the top right corner and the bowden was cut slightly long to compensate for the 90° turn to reach the extruder. Would likely flow out even better if it was just placed sideways but I have no space for such things :'). I hope this helps someone else with better TPU printing.
