SKR Pico & R-Pi 3D Printer Controller Box

SKR Pico & R-Pi 3D Printer Controller Box

Description

This 4-piece enclosure is designed to contain the original Monoprice Maker Select V2 power supply (Mean Well LRS-200-12) with NEMA panel plug/switch, a 40mm fan, and the BigTreeTech SKR Pico V1.0 alongside a Raspberry-Pi 4. I am using these parts specifically for rejuvenating my old Maker Select. The SKR Pico runs fine on the 12V supply (this is within datasheet input range) and is a low-cost silent-stepper upgrade for the Maker Select. It runs Klipper and can be connected to the R-Pi over UART - the R-Pi needs no other connection and can be set up to be headless with Moonraker and Fluidd. The SKR Pico has a lot of convenient connectors, however they are bulky. I removed all of the connectors from my board and direct-soldered everything to allow fitment right next to the R-Pi in this design. There are three hot spots across these devices, and the triangular ducts direct air to the hottest corner of the power supply, the SKR Pico's RP2040, and the R-Pi's main die. The inlet area is less than the outlet and should provide some velocity. These ducts are triangular to allow easier printing without supports. All four parts should print easily without supports - orient with the flat face down for all except the rear upper, which should be placed backside-down. I used small 7mm servo screws for the hardware - these are very small with coarse threads. If you have some other size available then feel free to bore out the attachment points to match. I am currently printing these parts with my power supply, fan, and controller boards splayed across my desk, and it's going quite nicely in Overture PLA+. I will post pictures of the results as well as any updates or fixes as I am able.
