Turntable Dust Cover Hinge Compatible with Akai AP-206, AR - AR The Turntable, BSR - Quanta 450SX, Kenwood - KD-40R, Sony PS-11, PS-22, Yamaha-P-200

A friend asked me if there was anything I could do to fix their turntable dust cover as the hinges had died. The turntable is probably 30-40 years old and the plastics were starting to go. The springs are pretty heavy duty & I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did. I took the hinge & modeled it in Sketchup (file included). I kept the metal bracket, spring and pin from the original assembly. The Pin has be peined (not sure of the spelling) spreading it out on one side, so in order to reuse it I filed off the end. You could choose to replace it with a 4mm bolt (approx. 38mm long or longer, depending if you want to put a nut on it). I printed it on my Ender 5 Pro Mercury One.1 conversion, with a 0.8mm nozzle, in ABS, with a large brim and no support, standing up (picture of cura included). Clean up of the print is pretty straight forward, a bit of filing here & there, etc. Assembly is shown in the pictures. If you find the hinge clicks at the end of it's travel, try shaving a little plastic off the chamfer (picture included). There is no harm in drilling the holes in the metal bracket out to 4.5mm if your still having issues. Expect a bit of fettling as the tolerances are pretty tight. It should run completley smooth given a little bit of work. As of writing this, it still hasn't been used as I'm waiting on my friend to pick it up. The inherent weak point is the gap that wedges onto the dust cover & we shall have to see how well it holds up. Without the record player itself, there was no easy way of knowing where and how I could have reinforced the part. Potentially, it might have been better to completely redesign the hinge mechanism. Anyways, hope that helps someone :D PS. Replacement hinges are available on Amazon (not from me) but they cost about £39 for a pair, so if all else fails do a search there & I'm sure you'l find them.
