Tiny Train (Customizable)
Description
Tiny Train - 2023 Vendicar Decarian - Placed into the Public Domain - Dec 2023 OpenScad Script provided The SCAD file provided along with the .stl files are a model for a tiny train, children's toy, similar in shape to the OpenScad tiny train by Torsten Paul 2019. His model code was 44 lines ling. This model is considerably longer almost 600 lines. The complexity arises from different model options scaling and the need to break the file into parts in order to minimize support structures and to produce alignment surfaces so gluing the parts together is very easy. For ease of operation use the OpenScad customizer to set the various model features with sliders and buttons. The model can be scaled, from 100% which spans a 220 mm print bed to 1/4 scale. Scaling to 50% has been tested. Scaling brings with it issues however. When scaled some features become impossible to print, and impossible to handle even if they could be printed. The cab whistles are such an item. Similarly the wheel axel's become very small and difficult to work with. For sizes less than 30% it is probably best to print the model in a non-rolling version. When "Rolling" is de-selected the wheels are brought in closer to the train body so that they weld with the undercarriage eliminating the axle issue. The Cab whistles can be deselected entirely. They print as the upper section of the Whistle only. The stem connecting it to the cab is too delicate to be printed. I suggest connections to the cab be done with a small piece of bent copper. There is a dowel pin in the front for a cow catcher if you wish to implement one. Axel'S Are intended to be made from monostrand wire that runs from the wheel cap through the wheel and into the undercarriage. It is recommended that the wire be cut to size and then glued to the wheel cap. Once affixed to the cap. the wire is then passed through the wheel and into the undercarriage where it is to be glued. The hole runs straight through the undercarriage so it can be quite long on that side. In order to prevent the wheel hub from being glued to the cap or undercarriage, either be very careful, or use a little wax paper between the joints, or just coat them in a little bit of petroleum jelly. Axel_HD is the variable that holds the Axel diameter. The variable $EC ( extrusion correction) is added to the diameter to correct for filament flow into the axel holes. $EC is printer/nozzle extrusion error correction parameter that is set by default to 0.3 mm.
