7 hole punch for Franklin Covey dayplanner, single sheet
Description
Hole Punch 7hole Classic final README ===================================== This 7 hole punch is for the Franklin Covey Classic Size Dayplanner. Page size is 8.5" x 5.5", or a half sheet of standard 8.5x11 paper, making it easy to cut your own filler pages or anything else you want inserted into your planner. The difficulty is finding a hole punch that matches the odd ring structure of the binder. Here is problem solved (almost). The punch is functional but awkward to use. It handles a single sheet at a time and takes determination to use. To assemble, print both the guide and the teeth, then optionally insert a wire into the hinge. It works just fine without the hinge attached, and the open hinge makes a good lever to pull the teeth apart after punch. The Blender source files are included. Note there are several objects hidden when generating the STLs: The original 6 hole punch that this is a make from, as well as a plane representing the sheet of paper. These should not be included in either print. For the Guide half, hide the 7 hole cylinders before selecting all parts as shown in the first blender screenshot. For the Teeth half, hide the piece called Blade, and select everything in the second screenshot. Printing instuctions The print settings I used on my Creality Ender 3v3 SE were 0.3mm nozzle, 0.16 layer thickness, 100% infill, no supports, no extra adhesion, and PLA material. The design was rotated 45 degrees on the build plate since it just barely fits. The Teeth file was also rotated over 180 degrees so the teeth are up rather than down. Improvements possible: The pin or hole sizes could be adjusted to make the punch action easer, at the expense of clean paper punch action. The hinge could be made more easily hinged, or it could be replaced by tabs that could be clipped into the binder so it is always available to use. A three hole or two hole punch version could be made just by deleting the extra pins and holes. ------------------------------------- Thank you to Thingiverse user zimireff for the original 6 hole punch version. I reused the hinge as-is, but everything else has been recreated from scratch by me (abitmoreadventure). I am releasing this in the Public Domain as the original was.
