Short Microphone Blimp
Description
This is a remix of Arcomade's blimp https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4632343 I scaled the original parts down by 10% so it more suitable for short length shotgun microphones, I also shortened the mount plate and added notches for the mount plate to slot into the pivot connector to prevent it from twisting, as I noticed this was an issues I had with the original part. This part still needs abit of editing but is usable in its current state. I have a Mkh416 in the pics to show the size to scale, a mic of this length will fit but only with a low profile XLR connector inside the blimp but any mic shorter then this such as an MKH 8060, DPA 4017 or Sanken Cs-1e with a regular XLR connector fine. I printed the centre ring and end caps with no supports with 10% infill Mount plate 100% infill with supports ( 1% density ) Pivot connector at 100% infill with supports ( 1% density/ 70 degree overhang ) For the thread connector I used Shure mic clip, for the Lyres I reused an old one from Rycote and for the fabric on the outside I used a woman's knee high sock and simply fit it over the top and cut out around the base of the ring. This build is roughly 12cm shorter then the Rode blimp and resembles the Nano or Super Shield blimps. A rycote WS2 wind fur should fit perfectly but you can also use the Rode fur. The screws are the same as the original. M5/25mm for the pivot/centre piece and m3/12mm for the mount plates. This my first remix and uploaded of a 3d model. There's still a few tweaks that I may make but currently it works and looks great. Big thanks to Arcomade for the original design and STL files I worked off.
