Original Furby Replacement Battery Cover
Description
I found my daughter's 1999 Furby in a box of toys in the attic. One ear flap had come loose, and the battery cover was missing. Years ago, I would have considered the toy a loss, but my culture has changed since I entered the world of 3D printing. Because I've read about (but never seen) a Furby go evil, I thought it best to test it, and was relieved and happy to see it work normally. I jumped on TinkerCad, calipers and toy in hand, and whipped up a new cover, and repaired the ear while it printed. It wasn't as hard as I expected--only took me two failed attempts to come up with the perfect fit. When I told my 34-year-old daughter that I had found and repaired her Furby, she ran right over to claim him. It was fun to watch her smile and play with it, but she did predict that her husband will likely demand she remove the batteries. I thought I'd share this simple thing, in case there are more of you out there with an old Furby in need of a little love.
