KLP1 runout sensor
Description
This object is meant to fix filament tube and to move the runout sensor to a more sensible place. The filament tube is fixed, so you do not need three hands to load filament anymore - now you can push the filament into the runout sensor and hold the filament lever on the print head open at the same time :-) The runout sensor is moved to a place, where it is closer to the center of a filament spool and a little further away from the spool. Printed in PLA, 0.2mm, 15% infill. BOM: * 2 x Screw M3 8mm * 2 x Screw M3 10mm * 4 x Heat inserts for M3, Diameter=4mm, Height = 5mm (adafruit 4255) * 3 x short wires <= 10cm * 1 x JST XH 2.5 3 pin female connector (adafruit has a JST XH 2.5mm set) * 1 x JST XH 2.5 3 pin male connector * A little soldering wire * A little electricians tape Tools: * Soldering iron * Screw driver or hex key for screws Instrutions: * Print the object - it contains the base part and a tube holder. * Use the soldering iron to insert the four heat insert as show in the picture. * Mount the original runout sensor to its new position. * Use the soldering iron to prepare the small extension cable as shown in the picture - it is straight through, so female pin 1 to male pin 1, female pin 2 to male pin 2, and female pin 3 to male pin 3. * Detach the runout sensor from the printer and attach the extension cable to the cable coming out of the printer. * Mount the runout sensor on the printed base using the original screws. * Mount the base to the printer using two 8mm screws. * Attach the free end of extension cabel to the runout sensor. * Use electricians tape and attach approx 1½ turns around the tube. * Place the tube in the cutout on the base and attach the small tube holder part with two 10mm screws - the tube has to be flush to the runout sensor. Tighten and check the tube is attached securely by trying to pull it out - if not, dismount and try with more turns of tape. I've used it with the spool holder found at https://www.printables.com/model/597464-improved-spool-holder-for-kingroon-klp1.
