The Hat Box - A storage container for your aperiodic monotiles
Description
I grabbed the hat monotile from here: https://github.com/christianp/aperiodic-monotile - This is the source that the authors of the paper about the hat monotile (as discovered by David Smith) themselves reference. See: https://cs.uwaterloo.ca/~csk/hat/ If you print the STL from there without modifications, you'll end up with a tile that is 4mm high (or thick) and 30mm at it's widest point... At leas I think I measured that right? Anyway, I went a bit overboard and ended up with over 50 of those things. All in 2 colors (doing a live/hot filament swap) as you can see from the photos, but that's besides the point. I needed a storage system better than the zip-loc baggy I am using. Hence was born The Hat Box. It's a work in progress and if there is enough interest, I might make a #gridfinity version. This fits about 10 or 11. I say 10 or 11 because, while I designed it for 11 (don't ask), if you end up putting 11 in the box, the tiles are a bit fiddly to get out. The tolerances are fine, it's just fiddly because there isn't a lot of room to grab a single tile... Have fun with it... Or not, it serves a purpose for me - You should really check out the hat monotile, it's pretty awesome! Oh yeah, you want to orient the file on the printer with the actual bottom on the build plate. Prints without supports no problems!
