Direct Drive Mount - Ender 3 - Generative Design
Description
**SpeedDrive by SASHALEX007** Inspired by the SpeedDrive design from SASHALEX007, but found it too boring and not an optimal design. This design saves material is stiffer but more difficult to print. **Topology Optimized** Using advanced Computer Aided Design software I was able to create this design. It takes into account excluded areas of adjacent parts ensuring the fit is tight and as close packed as possible. Applying loads to the contact areas of the stepper motor allowed the software to generate and optimal shape. Ultimately it results in much higher stiffness and lower weight allowing for higher accelerations. I was able to achieve accelerations of 3.2k with klipper. **Your usable X-axis will shrink!** Like with the the SpeedDrive design, the placement of the motor will cause your usable X-axis to shrink to 200mm. This means you will need to modify your endstop (look at the speeddrive) and reconfigure your printer in klipper and your slicer. **Different versions, pick the finer one** This design includes 3 different models that used a different resolution setting in the software for the optimization. Highly recommend you take the Finer one if your printer is tuned, if you are having trouble pick the coarse one. The finest one has little features that break easily and are hard to print. **Print settings** - Organic supports everywhere Most Overhangs are 45 degrees for tuned printers this can be done easily. If you have trouble increase your threshold and enable z-hop so you do not break the structure or the support. - Layerheight 0.15-0.2 - Walls 4 - Infill ~20%
