32mm Vacuum / Dust Collector Connectors - Bosch, Ridgid, Dewalt
Description
Wanted nice, solid connections to my various sanders, so I mixed and matched some existing parts here on Thingiverse as well as created some of my own things. These are meant to thread on to 1.25" (32mm) OD vacuum hose. You can salvage this from some vacuum cleaners. I bought mine here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MFWDFSK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The Bosch connector is for an ROS20VS random orbital sander The Dewalt connector is for DWE6411 quarter sheet sander The Ridgid connector is for an R2720 belt sander Obviously, these may work with other devices, but I don't know which. If you find it works for yours, put it in the comments and I'll add it here. A few notes: - Print thread side down for each of these. - I used PLA+ for this, and the result is pretty remarkable. I get a really tight fit, and there's no real chance of the fitting breaking even if the hose is attached at odd angles. I guess you could use another plastic, but if you get PLA+ I don't think you'll be disappointed. - The Ridgid connector is actually two parts since it has to turn 90º, and it was VERY difficult to print one piece. I went with this ugly, but functional, approach. You'll need one of each of the Ridgid parts, and the "Ridgid Connector" part will require supports. Print it upright, with the part that attaches to the sander facing up. When both parts are done, just shove the tapered end of the thread piece into the big hole in the side of the square. - I slice with S3D, which has adaptive layer heights. If you have that option, I suggest turning it on. If not, you should print at 0.15 or so to ensure the threads don't get too funky. They're rough even at 0.10, but plenty functional. If anything, their roughness makes for a tighter fit. - Slicer suggested support, but I turned it off and it was fine. (Except for the Ridgid piece mentioned above) Here are the projects I pulled from to make these: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5169110 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4313325 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2248816
