SimRacing TruckSim "China Shifter" Shift Boot Bracket
Description
This is a shiftboot bracket for the common "China shifter" found for around $60 on Amazon and eBay for sim racing. Its become very popular, and the biggest complaint people have with it is how loud it is. This bracket allows you to make a shift boot for about $12. The lower section is designed to snap fit over the top plate of the shifter. You may need to give the center of the case on your shifter a squeeze to give a bit of a lip for the clip to grab it, a just a couple MM is fine. You can do this with your thumbs. Get a cheap "universal car shift boot" off amazon or eBay. You'll need to cut the bottom off of it, be mindful of the stitching, as you're going to cut through it. A dab of Super Glue will keep it from unraveling. Cut it down so that the the size of the square opening is about the size of this bracket. Slip the bracket over the boot from the top down, fold the bottom edge into the upper bracket and glue it in place to the top of the bracket with super glue all the way around, being sure your corners line up. It doesn't have to be perfect, but you dont want it to come loose either. (dont glue your fingers to the boot like I did) (If you're using this for a truck sim shift knob, you'll want to thread your USB cable through the brackets gap for it at the back of the shifter now) With the lower section clipped to your shifter with the wire guide facing the rear, bring the two halves together. Its a bit of a wonky fit, but thats what super glue is for. Squeeze and glue the two halves together. Use a zip tie or similar to secure the top of the boot to your shift knob, or the top of the shifter shaft. Give it a bit of a fluff to make sure it doesn't bind up/get in the way of the gates as you shift. I noticed it prefers a bit of a "European" stature.
