Segmented Upper Arm Armour (Rerebrace)

Segmented Upper Arm Armour (Rerebrace)

Description

Segmented Rerebrace (Upper Arm Armour) for use at Orion Sphere LRP (http://www.orionspherelrp.co.uk). Armour designed to print on a small printer with some flexibility regarding size. Holds together using small M3 hex nuts and low-profile M3 machine screws. There are loops along some segments for a thin strap, such as 20mm double-sided hook-loop tape. Orion Sphere LRP is a science fiction live roleplay game that run events in the UK. Players take on the role of starship crews, companies and research institutes, as one of a host of alien species and in one of four competing Factions. Each segment is a pair of prints (A&B) that fit together using the central screw hole. Print with the front edge on the bed, and use a brim at least if you can. Nuts are placed into the hexagonal slots on the outside, and screws on the inside (get a low-profile machine screw so it doesn't scratch your arm). Designed for small M3 hex nuts and machine screws. There are 10 different sections, sized in sequence, and 4 different variants of each so you can print one that fits you best, with the combination of segments that suit you. Find the width of your upper arm just above your bent elbow, and use that to select the lowest numbered segment. Each segment is about 5cm long, so print an additional number of segments to go as far up your arm as you prefer. * Start Segments - These are the ones to go closest to your elbow, and are tapered back to give space for the joint to move. * Standard Segments - These are unadorned, basic spacer sections. * Loop Segments - These have a loop to put a strap through. * End Segments - These top out the armour piece, and have no socket for another piece to link to. __Example__ - You have an upper arm about 90cm wide above the elbow, and about 20 cm to the shoulder. You print Start_4A & B for the bottom section, then Loop_5A & B, then Loop_6A & B, then End_7A & B to finish. If your arm was 25cm or so to the elbow, you would print Standard_6 for the extra space, then Loop_7 and End_8. There are designs for a Bracer (Lower Arm) and Elbow Cop in the same style here - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5299547 Please share any makes or painted versions you have, and feel free to remix your own versions.
