2005 Mustang Spinner Center Cap
Description
Looking to spice up your OEM 2005 Mustang rims? Does it look like something is missing on your OEM rims but can't figure out what it is? Then I have the right thing for you. All jokes aside, I modeled and printed the center cap “spinners” from the 2005 mustang stock rims. I did not want to pay $30 for knockoffs or the $200 ones from Ford so I made my own. **For people looking to print this for non Ford Wheels**: Ford says their snap in center caps are “2.262 inches” or “2.54 inches” for the snap lock in. It should fit in any wheels with that center **Before and After**: pictures are 3 - 5 (the before is just an image of new rims, but you get the idea) **Ideal Materials** -Spinner - print in any material besides TPU (Mine is PLA+) -Center Cap - Best results printed in nylon for a stiff but small flex for a good fit. PLA+, PET, PETG, or ABS would be good, just be careful when installing to not break any mounting pegs that go into the hub. -Optional: Print “Spinner” in Silver PLA if you don't want to paint it, it doesn't blend in as well as painted, but it works. **Tips for installation** -It many need some persuasion to fit the printed center cap in the center of the hub on the wheel as it was modeled to be a tight fit so it wouldn't fall out while driving so I used a rubber mallet to lightly tap it in place. Be very careful doing this if you do not intend on printing in nylon -The locking mechanism that combines the "Center Cap" piece to the “Spinner” piece should be a tight enough fit to stay on. If it's too lose you may need to reprint but it should be fine. I tested them for a couple days on my car and they haven't gone anywhere -The 3mf and STEP files will also be in this included so you can remix this design or edit it to make it better.
