Heltec V3 Lora Case for use with NP-BX1 Battery

Heltec V3 Lora Case for use with NP-BX1 Battery

Description

This is a case to house your Heltec V3 board and a swappable NP-BX1 battery. You will at least one 2x8 Dupont connector, or two 1x8 Dupont connectors or one 1x8 Dupont connector, and 2 smallers to place below it as a stand so the pins can make contact with the terminals. At first I used 2 Dupont pins and bent the ends, as you can see in the first photos. And even though it made a connection to power the Heltec, the connections would break if the device shook a little. I then remember I had some watch strap pins which have spring ends and replaced the Dupont pins with these. Dont even need to solder, just strip the wires so they fill most of the Dupont connector, then jam the watch pin in. You can buy these watch pins from amazon, you can buy an assorted pack for £5 here https://amzn.to/3vm0Tf3 Putting it all together is pretty straight forward, hopefully you can guess what to do via the photos. Once the battery is in you will need something to push it against the connectors. I just used some folded up piece of card and it works pretty well. I can shake the device pretty hard and the connection has not broken once. If you only have the one battery you can use some filament to secure the case by filling in the 3 holes on the sides of the case. Holes arent perfect, you may have to use a small round file or precision screwdriver to make them a little larger for a piece of 1.75mm filament to fit. And then just charge the battery via USB. Or if you have several batteries, can swap them out when needed. You can get 3 NP-BX1 batteries with a charger for £21 on amazon here https://amzn.to/4alIoGh
