"Lotus" Master Spool for refill Filament
Description
This filament master spool is modular, very material and time-saving, beautiful to look at and, as a special feature, offers particularly little friction against the filament. The latter is the reason why I made this design. I need this spool for my own hobby workshop and due to some comments about filament getting caught, I made this design in hopes of solving the problem. The design is optimized for 0.4mm nozzles and 0.2mm layer height. Important: Please note the comments at the end of the description. I made the spool in three versions, but functionally they are identical and the parts are compatible with each other: - Basic: Easy to print, freely scalable - Premium: Nice design, no filling, no bottom/ceiling layers, minimal material consumption (saves 40% material), slightly more demanding to print - Premium (thick): Same as premium variant, but more stirdy (saves 20% filament compared to basic variant) The following models are included: - Wreath left and right, each in basic and premium versions - Hub in different sizes and with freely adjustable length - Screw cap with pawl - Key to help turn the screw cap General properties: - Diameter - Wreath: 200mm - Hub: 75, 80, 85, 90, 100, 110, 120mm diameter - Hub (inner): 53mm - Tolerance: 0.2mm - Hub length: any - 100mm - Weight: ~130-200g, depending on the size of the hub Print settings: - Nozzle: 0.4mm - Resolution: 0.2mm - Walls: see below - Layers: see below - Filling: see below - Extrusion width: 0.44mm - Rafts/Brims/Supports: None - Seams: back - Ensure vertical thickness: Off - Wreath (Basic): - Solid layers: 4 (bottom); 5 (top) - Walls: 2 - Infill: 10% - Wreath (Premium): - Solid layers: 4 (bottom); 0 (top) - Infill: 0% - Walls: 2 - Elephant foot compensation: Off - Wreath (Premium thick): - Same as Premium - Walls: 3 - Hub, screw cap and key - Shorten the hub in the slicer to the desired length - Solid layers: 0 (bottom); 0 (top) - Infill: 0% Remarks: - The direction of rotation is important in this design! Therefore each coil has two different rings. The direction of travel is marked with arrows on the wreath. - Good bed leveling is absolutely necessary for the premium version - The skrew has limited reusability due to aging of the barbs. That's why it's designed to be as economical as possible, weighing less than 6g. - When printing with PLA, it should be noted that this spool is not suitable for drying in heated chambers.
