Qidi X-Max 3 filament spool mount Mod

Qidi X-Max 3 filament spool mount Mod

Description

Since the filament holder and also the space for the drying chamber is on the back of this very heavy machine, I designed a quick mod to get everything to the side/front. I recomend using an additional PTFE tube, to bridge the gap between the drying chamber and the runout sensor. The one coming with the printer might be way to short for that. You´ll also need additional 4xM3 thread inserts, 4xM3 (>13mm) screws to relocate the runout sensor and probably 3 rawlplugs and 3x 4x30 or 4x40 woodscrews to mount the filament spool mount. You need to print the wall mount and the runout sensor holder each once. Unscrew the runout sensor at the back of the device and use the original 4 screws to mount the printed holder back to the device after inserting the thread inserts. Pull some more wire from the runout sensor out of the machine, it should be long enough (if not shure open the back plate and look for it as you pull). Screw the runout sensor to the mount, with the input facing to the side of the printer. Drill 3 holes into your wall/shelf, using the printed filament wall mount as template. Mount the spool holder with 3 screws on the wall/shelf and insert the original spool holder. Fit the drying chamber in place and secure it with the original cap, just like you would do originally on the printers back. Connect the drying chamber and the runout sensor with the PTFE tube in an adequate length for a proper dust free filament guidance. In conclusion it is pretty self explanatory, but you´ll need some additional screwing stuff. Ask for questions :)
