Rancilio Rocky burr carrier to socket adapter

Rancilio Rocky burr carrier to socket adapter

Description

The adjustable burr carrier in the Rancilio Rocky needs to be spun in and out many times for burr alignment, and normally this has to be done by hand while trying to not cut your hand on the metal chassis. The inside of the carrier has a tri-petal shape where the back of the burr can be seen. This printable adapter can be used to spin the carrier with an external tool such as a socket wrench or driver, saving your hands. The socket size is 7/8", which I used since it is the largest socket in my MasterCraft socket set here in Canada. Perhaps 13/16" would have been a better choice, since it seems more common. There just has to be enough clearance for the protruding 12mm motor shaft nut. The socket size may be adjusted in the scad file ("udf", upper diameter flat, variable). I measured between two flats within my socket to specify this size, but in theory the measurement is the socket size in millimeters. This is scaled by cos(30) to get the 6-sided cylinder diameter from the flat-to-flat diameter. Worked well for me! Simon-
