Compliant Cherry and Kailh Switch Opener
Description
- See description with pictures at: https://www.printables.com/model/850982 A switch opener with a compliant spring mechanism to help crack open many switches quickly. Also helps keep parts from flying everywhere once the switch pops open. Includes swappable inserts for opening both Kailh (2 clips) and Cherry (4 clips) style switches. Tested with: - Gateron Milky Yellow Pro - Cherry MX Red - Kailh Box White - Keychron K Pro Brown Notes: - I printed mine with ELEGOO Black PLA and it works fine for now. Should probably be printed with something tougher like PETG for longer life. - Print the inserts at .12mm layer height for best performance. - Paint seams so that they are not on the compliant springs (or use the .3mf file in prusaslicer). - Includes 2 versions of the Cherry opener insert: - Sharp: Does not open switch completely, takes less force. Less chance of damaging the switch. - Blunt: Pops the switch open completely, takes more force. - You will need to sharpen the Kailh opener insert's teeth with sandpaper or a file. - It is difficult to print a part that is narrow enough to fit under the tiny spaces under the Kailh housing's clips. - This is not necessary for the cherry design because the gaps under the clips are much larger. - Tolerances between the inserts and the opener's body are 0.12mm on all sides.
