SainSmart Genmitsu 3030 Prover Max Z Calibration
Description
This is a re-design of the upgraded Genmitsu 3030 Prover MAX Z probe. The original design separates on the base for the PCB to be fitted, this can create a step of around 0.2mm on the base plate of the probe which means the calibration target does not sit perfectly parallel with the work piece. This can lead to errors in the Z probe calibration depending on exactly where you measure the thickness of the probe and the position you calibrate from. In this design, the base of the probe is an uninterrupted surface and the two part base is replaced with a lid to secure the PCB in place. The design keeps the Z offset to 12mm, and measurements I've taken with a micrometer would suggest that it's possible to achieve +/-0.05mm parallelism with this design. The disadvantage with this approach, is that since the PCB must be inserted from the top, an opening is required in the bottom to feed through the copper tab which makes electrical connection with the calibration target. Be careful not to allow conductive swarf into this gap. For me, this works better than the standard product. Have Fun !
