Apple MacBook Pro 140W power supply cable catcher
Description
My wife just broke open the piggy bank and bought me a new 2023 MacBook Pro M3 16" laptop, and it came with a gigantic 140W power adaptor. As with all Apple power adaptors, it takes the Apple extension cord. But if that's how you ride (this is how I ride), you need a way to control the chaos. To that end, I have designed this Thing that is the result of a few weeks of printing, throwing away plastic, and updating designs. • The two halves will both print at the same time on a standard-sized Ender 3 build plate. • The halves are beveled to fit together to add stability. • The screw holes are actually not threaded but are about the right sized for 4mm screws, or 8-32 screws. Use your die-cutter set for a great fit. • The Thing diameter contains the power supply with good air gaps, but also in a way that allows the end of the cord to be velcro’d in place when you have wrapped up the cord. In addition, I printed this example using both TPU and PLA. I began the build with TPU to make the “wings” flexible rather than brittle, and the I switched to PLA to make the center core rigid and stiff to allow the structure to hold the power brick and the cable without collapsing. Enjoy!!
