Vive Pro Headstrap Angle Mod

Vive Pro Headstrap Angle Mod

Description

## TLDR The Dremel guides helps you cut away a portion of the stops to allow the headset to tilt downward allowing even pressure on your face. The hinge stiffeners allows more resistance on the strap. It allows you to crank down on the screw; further clamping the strap tighter and allowing resistance on the hinge (similar to the quest 2's hinge). This helps to keep the HMD at the desired angle. ## Why?? Users of the VP noticed that the it puts too much pressure on the forehead and wouldn't tilt down enough to put even pressure on the user's face. There is already a mod that moves the hinge out further to bypass the angle stops however, I wanted a clean and sturdy setup. I opted to cut away a bit of the hinge stops resulting in a cleaner and more sturdy mount. ## Details You don't need to worry about the headphone cable stretching or pulling out, I haven't found that it pulls on it excessively or pinches it. The threaded screw inserts on the head strap seem to be pretty beefy and they don't show any signs of pulling out after using this mod for a while. It might work on the VP2, they seem to be almost exactly the same head strap and construction. Voids the warranty (obviously). ## Instructions ### Dremel Guides: - Print out the Left and Right Dremel guides. - Tape off any cracks and vents painters tape. - Align the guides appropriately (as shown in the photos). With the inner edge aligned properly; it should cover over the part that you want to keep and the rest would be where you want to remove the plastic. - Tape down the guides to hold them in place and carefully cut out the plastic. (Take your time!) ### Hinge Stiffeners: - Print the stiffeners out sideways and make sure to remove any imperfections on the print as they have the exact same diameter as the original hinges.
