Red Sea Nano Skimmer, 2nd Filtersock, Overflow Extension and Cover
Description
Do not print RectSkimFull.stl ! Its just to view the thing as a whole, the top cup needs to be separate, print it in parts only ! Protein skimmer for my Red Sea Nano desktop. It's a mame skimmer, so needs an external air pump and a bubble stone ( very fine bubbles work best). I have a cold water reef tank so need to reduce any additional heat and don't want a skimmer with internal pump. But mame skimmers work great in general, are low maintenance and very quiet. I made 2 versions, a standalone and one that has a holder for a 2nd filter sock ( or filter upgrade). The standalone has also a holder to adjust height, but it turned out the water level was just perfect for my setup without when just sitting on those foam rails on the bottom. The one with the 2nd filter sock should be used with the 2 overflow extensions. The water will go into the 1st filter. If that one is clogged flow over into the 2nd ( so it's a backup solution not a 2 stage filter). The tiny overflow extension goes into the corner of the first filter holder, there is that little emergency overflow hole that I wanted a bit higher. Both versions are 3 parts so they can be printed on a smaller printer like my MK3s The covers are for my tank specifically and the way I have cables and lights, but might work for yours as well. You definitely want some kind of lid on the skimmer, I just don't need one because the cover does that job. I use PETG for all my reef prints because its food safe, but I read ppl also use PLA and ABS without issues.
