UL-Camping Chair (280g)

UL-Camping Chair (280g)

Description

_Ultralight DIY Camping Chair - 280 grams!_ This is an ultralight camping chair. The tube ends (upper and lower) are 3D-printed with PETG und seem quite robust. The design idea is to use also a cord connection for the lower tube ends: thus forces on the rods are much lower and now central joint is necessary. This allows to use light weight aluminium tarp poles. The cords should also prevent the chair from sinking into soft/wet ground. The tubes/rods are 16 mm aluminium tarp poles from amazon. As lower and upper diameter are (here) different, I designed the parts in FreeCAD using a spreadsheet for the dimensions. So you can also download the Freecad-File and adjust parameters to your needs. To keep the tubes together I use a small piece of bicycle air chamber (4 cm folded). As there is no force on the central joint this works quite well. The seat is sawn using 200 g/m2 fabric (and there is plenty of room for optimizations :-). Later on I intend to make a youtube-video on this design. The total weight is ca. 280 grams, which is lower than any ultralight chair you can buy for money :-) enjoy!
