Sonoff MiniR2 Case: Coffee Edition

Sonoff MiniR2 Case: Coffee Edition

Description

I decided to make my ‘dumb’ coffee machine a bit smarter by adding an ESP8266 relay device ([Sonoff MiniR2](https://amzn.to/4a92GSS)) and water-sensor! I followed [this guide by earvingad](https://earvingad.github.io/posts/smartdumbcoffe/) to setup the wiring and get the right sensor ([XKC-Y25-NPN](https://amzn.to/4dBUaiu)). To flash the device to ESPHome I recommend [this guide by jpeletier](https://community.home-assistant.io/t/flash-sonoff-minir2-firmware-3-6-0-with-esphome-over-the-air/311042/2?u=gyrohammer). I attempted it by following the parent post but was unsuccessful. The case sits behind the coffee machine while the sensor is attached to the back with VHB tape, just above the lowest water level. The only further customization is to create an automation for this setup. One is provided in the initial guide if you'd rather just plug-and-play it. The unit is friction-fitted into the case while the water sensor cable comes in through the side and is hot-glued to stay in place. The dupont connector is held together using a [single lock](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5409132) by [marelk485](https://www.thingiverse.com/marelk485/designs).
