Yongnuo YN300 Air 1/4" mount with a cable inlet
Description
This ia an alternative 1/4" screw mount with a cable inlet for Yongnuo YN300 Air video lamp. I use YN300 Air as a powerful workbench lamp in combination with Roadworx Universal Ball Joint and Gravity MA Goose XL gooseneck. I wanted to power the lamp directly from an external 12V power supply. However, I didn't want to use the existing 12V DC barrel connector as its location on the lamp is not really optimal. I.e., it would require me to use an L-shaped barel connector, and I did't want to have any unnecessary protruding elements at the back of the lamp. Instead, I wanted the power wires to come straight into the lamp at its mounting point and to be soldered directly to the PCB. For that, I unscrewed the original mount that YN300 Air came with and designed this alternative mount that has a channel for power wires. To lay the wires, I disassembled the lamp and drilled a 4mm hole in the plastic case of its mount pad just between the two stiffening ribs. Behind the mount pad, the lamp has inside a small П-shaped metal plate with four threaded holes for screwing in the bolts that hold the mount. The wires can be easily layed through that drilled hole between the legs of this П-plate.
