Pegwood Sharpener (for Watchmakers)
Description
Watchmakers use pegwood for cleaning parts and safely handling and moving parts around without scratching them. We use it for cleaning out pivot holes and in that case, it is important to get a sharp point. A smooth conical point is not the desired way. A toothpick for example is not good for cleaning out holes, because the smooth surface just smashes in the grime and doesn't scrape it out. The best way to sharpen a pegwood stick is to draw the wood toward the blade while holding it at the right angle. Note: make sure to de-burr the blades as the ones I received had sharp edges all around and those edges will dig into the grooves of the holder and it will bind. You may need to work the blade back and forth a few times to make it run smooth. It should have a little resistance so it doesn't slip, but it can still be removed by hand. In case it gets stuck, there is a notch so you can grab it with pliers. I like to print it vertically so no supports are required.
