Miller Chassis custom skid for 3 gear transmission

Miller Chassis custom skid for 3 gear transmission

Description

I designed this skid plate and other included parts while building a custom u4 truck using the RC4WD Miller chassis, and a mix of axial wraith and bomber parts. I was asked to share this skid plate, but please be aware, this is not a direct bolt in swap. I used axial rod ends and trailing arms. I do not know if any of this will work with the Miller Rock Racer suspension components, interior, etc.. I designed this skid plate to use aluminum (or carbon) side plates for the upper link mounts. I included both the dxf, and STL versions of the side plates. If printing, the side plates, I only recommend using that as a template to make aluminum parts, or for mock-up. This is designed to use .090" (2.25mm) thick material for the side plates. I used 6061 aluminum for the one I made. Thicker material should be fine, but I wouldn't suggest thinner. For chassis mounting, I used these press-in inserts from mcmaster-carr which you can see in one of the pictures. https://www.mcmaster.com/94100A110/ . You could drill/tap the mounting holes, but I'm not sure they will hold up long term on the thin material. This is a custom build, and replicating it will require some additional customization beyond the printed parts to figure out what works for your needs.
