Universal Filament Spool Holder with Desktop Clamp v2

Universal Filament Spool Holder with Desktop Clamp v2

Description

This is an accessory relevant to those with limited space. This is the second version of the initial build that was less sturdy and harder to put together. The initial design has dovetail joints that are tricky due to low tolerances required to keep things aligned. PLA works fine and holds the weight, but, exposed to direct sunlight and intense heat will deform. Works fine inside your average workshop. Also, the previous version was no designed to be printed without supports, which works ok for PLA, but I find that when printing PETG it is better to have no need for supports, as they are hard to remove. This one can be printed without supports. For the build you will need m8 threaded bar, nuts and washers. They are mandatory in order to keep the clamp part rigid and to attach the spool holder. You will require 3 joining pins, same size. When slicing in CURA I get a rescale 100000%. The pins though somehow get scaled wrong (smaller than they should be, by a factor of 10), and you will need to remove a 0 (zero). Be careful with this. You can use the „support arm top” with an m8 threaded bar to attach any other spool holder you like as there are many nice designs out there. Or use the parts provided. Finally, I used PETG for the build and had no more issues since.
