For more details, data and source files check out https://github.com/omnilabs/3d_printed_accoustic_panel Description The 3D Printed Modular Acoustic Panel project aims to provide an affordable and easily customizable acoustic treatment solution. Using Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) technology, these panels are designed to improve sound clarity, reduce reverberation, and control noise in various environments, such as home theaters, recording studios, offices, and classrooms. Features: Parametric Design: Each cell measures 70x70 mm with adjustable heights from 12 mm to 120 mm, suitable for effective frequency absorption from 143 Hz to 5000 Hz. Modular Construction: The panels are composed of 16 cells arranged in a 4x4 grid, creating a module that measures 280x280 mm. Multiple modules can be combined for larger panels. Customizable Filling: The hollow cells can be filled with various acoustic materials like silicon fibers, stone wool, or styrofoam for enhanced sound absorption. Interlocking Modules: Modules are designed to interlock, making storage and transportation easy. Easy Mounting: Each module has four mounting points for secure installation on walls or ceilings. The design also includes notches for easy cap removal and cable management. Print Settings: Printer: FDM 3D printer with a build volume > 280 x 280 x 120 mm³ Nozzle Diameter: 0.4 mm Layer Height: 0.3 mm for modules, 0.2 mm for caps Material: PLA or similar filament Infill: 15% Grid for modules, Concentric for caps Supports: Not required Assembly Instructions: Print the cells and caps using the provided STL files. Fill the cells with your chosen acoustic material. Snap the caps onto the cells. Combine the modules to create larger panels if needed. Mount the panels on the wall or ceiling using the provided mounting points. Files Included: Cell Design: STL file for the modular cell. Cap Design: STL file for the cell cap with micro-openings. Module Assembly: STL file for the 4x4 grid module. Usage: Ideal for improving acoustic performance in: Home Theaters Recording Studios Office Spaces Classrooms Any room requiring better sound control Acknowledgments: This design was inspired by research on acoustic metasurfaces and the work of Julien Dorra on 3D-printable sound absorbers.
