Solar filter for a 10 inch Dobsonian GSO
Description
If you want to create your own solar filter, buy a Baader AstroSolar Solar Film, or some other solar film of the correct size (for a 10 inch dobsonian get the 12X12 inch one). The filter is designed for a tube with outer dimenations of 310mm. If yours is different, just scale the part in your slicer. Print each part 3 times, in my Ender 3 V2 Neo each part just fits the bed. Then you can combine them to the inner and outer rings using super glue. You might need some force to combine the inner ring parts. If the inner ring does not enter the inner part of the outer ring, just sand it a bit. Use the inner ring to mark on the film where to cut it, so you can cut a circle from it which will fit. Then push the inner ring into the outer ring to hold the film in place. You can use some super glue if required (I didn't, it simply hold it with pressure). Don't ever aim a telescope at the Sun without filter, and always use caution doing that even with one.
