SimLab P1X Front Mounting Button Box

SimLab P1X Front Mounting Button Box

Description

## Forward This button box was designed around the [P1X front mount](https://sim-lab.eu/en-us/products/front-wheel-mount-p1-x-sim-racing). I'll likely update with some better pics later. I made two flavors for the right button plate, considering there's likely a common difference in switchology preferences. I'm personally a fan of the single encoder solution, as the knob is intentionally large for easier access and utilizes a cool self-returning mechanism. Note: There's a lot of optional stuff shared here. You could get by with as little as the simple front plates, a few buttons and an Arduino. I happen to like the convenience in using the BBI-64 board and the support it provides for future modifications. ### Nuts & bolts x8 M3 15mm (secures the backplates) x8 M3 nuts (secures the backplates) x2 M3 10mm (secures the encoder plate) x1 M4 grub screw (secures the encoder knob) x4 small zip-ties (prevents wire-tug) x2 rubber grommet (wire cleanup) ballpark specs: * 20mm Groove width / hole dia * 24mm OD * 14mm ID * 3mm Material thickness #### Other BBI-64 mount parts: x4 M3 nuts x4 M3 8mm bolt x4 M3 motherboard standoff screw ### Electronics * x6 16mm momentary pushbutton switches * Brake bias self returning rotary encoder : [Alps Alpine EC1110120005](https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Alps-Alpine/EC1110120005?qs=YMSFtX0bdJAdz%2Bo2puNv3Q%3D%3D), ([UK link](https://uk.farnell.com/alps/ec1110120005/)), ([Potential Ali alternative](https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2251832796822599.html)) * Rotary encoder alternative: [CTS288](https://www.leobodnar.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=191), [CTS288V](https://www.leobodnar.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=192) * Ignition switch : [SPST (ON)-OFF MOMENTARY TOGGLE SWITCH - 11AF](https://www.amazon.com/Momentary-Toggle-Switch-Terminals-11AF/dp/B0CGP5RBKS) * Engine start : [Jtron 12V 20A Push Button Switch](https://www.amazon.com/Jtron-Vehicle-Ignition-Starter-Momentary/dp/B07MKC4RXQ/) ### Other potentially helpful links: * [Leo Bodnar BBI-64 board](https://www.leobodnar.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=94&products_id=300) * [1N4001 diodes](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071YWNBVM) were used in combination with a stripped USB wire in order to provide lighting.
