Pack 1-1: 1-100 French 1807 Artillery Equipment ********************************************************* These are 1/100 (15mm) French Napoleonic figures for wargaming. These figures here are the French army in approximately 1807 - the early Empire. ...Group 1 is Artillery. ...Group 2 is Cavalry. ...Group 3 is Infantry. ...Group 4 is Other. Each Group is divided into packs of figures. As with the 1796 French figures, these artillery pieces have been up-scaled to correct an error I made with the original figures I issued a few years back. The An XI System was an attempt to simplify and improve the Gribeauval System. The ready ammo chest was moved from the gun trails to the limber. An XI was made official in 1803. It was improved again in 1808. The only successes in the An XI System were the 6 Pdr gun and the 24 Pdr howitzer. The Foot Artillery fairly quickly dropped the new limber in favor of the Gribeauval limber; this required the 6 Pdr gun carriages to be modified accommodate the ready ammo chest - hence the M1808 6 Pdr carriage. The Horse Artillery continued to use the M1803 limber for the 12 Pdr gun and 24 Pdr howitzer. If this seems confusing, join the club.
