Backpack Strap Magnetic Mount

Backpack Strap Magnetic Mount

Description

Inspired by My Little Demon's magnetic plush dragon for Gen Con 2024, this is a mount for such things so that they can be displayed riding on one's shoulder while wearing a backpack (as one often does at conventions and such) Because it was fun, and because I'm just that kind of crazy, I have prepared multiple versions: All versions require a "Magnet Plate". The holes in it are sized for 4mm x 2mm disk magnets (because they happen to be what I have around, and they're cheap on amazon). Glue in up to 25, making sure to align the poles. In all versions, the magnet plate sits in the clip from the underside, and should be approximately flush with the clip's top. Version 1: "Clip Body.3mf" is a fixed mount where the magnet plate is held in place by pressure from the backpack strap alone. The model included here is for a leg-to-body spacing of 8mm. Version 2: "Locking Clip Body.3mf" and "Lock Plate.3mf" firmly hold the magnet plate in place by the addition of the lock plate which is retained in a dovetail slot. Version 3: "Adjustable Locking Clip Body.3mf", 2x "Adjustable Leg.3mf", 2x "Lock Screw.3mf", and "Lock Plate.3mf". This version was designed to allow easy adjustment for a wide range of backpack strap thicknesses without reprinting. Simply put in place on a strap, press the legs in until friction is sufficient to prevent the clip from falling off, and tighten the lock screws in the two sides of the clip. (The screws have small pegs on their tips which engage in grooves in the legs. Versions 1 and 2 can be adjusted for arbitrary widths by changing the clip_width parameter in the included f3d file.
