quarter-turn spice dispenser

quarter-turn spice dispenser

Description

An experiment to invent a lid that is compact yet dispenses a specific amount of spices (in this case about 1 teaspoon) per quarter turn of the lid. It's a little like those pepper grinder lids that you can leave on. The jars they fit are here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078JSNS7K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 each lid also requires two small springs (I tore these out of the bottom of write brothers basic cheap mechanical pencils, about 1cm long and 3.5mm in diameter), two 4mm ball bearings, and two m2x12mm machine screws. User superglue gel (or your own prefered adhesive) to fix the insert tightly into the base using the guide bumps to line them up. For less spice per turn, the holes can be reduced in size (I suggest you decrease the arcs from 45, but you could also bring the hole OD and ID closer together). For more spice per turn, the holes can be expanded to about 18mm diameter OD, 8mm ID giving about 1 tablespoon per turn. If you need more than that you can make the base and insert taller, but keep the spring/bb channel between them.
