Car vent vane linkage repair piece

Car vent vane linkage repair piece

Description

While prototyping and installing [replacement vent tabs](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6740183) for our Toyota Avalon, I broke the linkage between the vertical vane that's driven by the tab and the other vanes. You may need to resize to fit the thickness of your vanes. If your vanes don't move together, you can link three of them with thread and these anchor pieces. (The one that's driven by the tab should be in the middle.) I recommend doing it as follows. Print three of the pieces. First tie a strong thread to the spine holes of two of the pieces, spaced at the correct spacing, leaving a lot of tail on the thread on the side with the third vane. Lock in the knots with superglue. Then superglue the tabs onto two of the vanes. Then thread the third piece on the long piece of thread, but don't tie (it's very hard to get the piece onto the vane if it's tied). Put the piece on the vane. Tighten the thread. Lock the thread in the hole with superglue and lock the anchor piece with a bit of superglue around its edges (I expect it'll get wicked into the joint). Wait for it to dry, and cut excess thread.
