BMW K1200 RS seat riser (K589, 1997)
Description
I own a K1200RS from 1997 (the K589 model) which is ( I am getting older indeed) killing my knees. The knee angle will not really allow me to go for any ride longer than 1 hr. There ARE possibilities of having your original seat modified for a height of +3 cm. But in order to test, wether this definitely not cheap modification will work, you have to find out wether 3cm will be enough or not. In addition, you can test wether your sitting position will now lead to aching hands due to you now lying flatter on the bike. So I designed this adapter that allows for rising the height of the seat (at least at the front) by 3 cm. (There definitely ARE disadvantages of this approach: you can see 'through the bike' below the seat, but...) The file with version V04 is just for a first test; I printed it with ~1mm skin and 15% infill in PLA. With it , you can easily try if it fits your bike (press it in at the center of your seat). The much wider version V05 is meant for the final test. (I had it too wide in my print, and sawed some piece off, therefore no photo). You might try to use something like three of the smaller pieces to insert in the middle and the leftmost and rightmost possible position - I am always very cautious when using printed parts and have the impression that I am too big for that way of rising the seat, but... DISCLAIMER: use at your own risk. i would not recommend to use it for a longer time and NEVER USE IT WITH SOMEONE SITTING BEHIND YOU! The middle of the seat is no longer supported which might lead to the seat breaking in the middle...
