"NightDawg" Night Vision Recorder
Description
This is a homemade night vision recorder inspired by the Grec X NV recorder. In order to build this yourself you will need: A matecam X9 board and the IMX258 80 degree fov camera. A pack of various length socket head cap M2 screws and M2 nuts. *optional but highly recommended* A BT2.0 drone battery connector male and female. You will need to remove the wifi board in order to use this. I may make a future version that is large enough to hold it as well, but haven't gotten around to it yet. The photos outline the process of putting it all together which is super simple. Everything is snap/press fit so the screws will prevent it from coming apart but are not required to hold it together in the first place. The BT2.0 connector will need to be glued in place to prevent it from pulling out. If you can't or don't want to solder a BT2.0 plug on the end of your wires, just pull the already attached wires through the hole and use that instead. The camera is press fit but should be installed using glue or double sided tape. The mounting ring was designed with mil spec optics in mind. If yours doesn't fit, leave a comment on what type it is and the measured diameter and I can make one for you that should fit. I have also included a version of this where the ring and camera arm are separate from the body. I have not personally tested that version, so if you are interested, check it out and leave a comment telling me if it does/doesn't work etc. I currently use an 18650 holder connected to a cable with a BT2.0 connector on the end to power the recorder. The matecam can be powered by any normal 1s power source so lipo batteries, 18650s, etc. You'll need to build or source that yourself since I did not include that in this. I think matecam makes their own 1s lipos for it as well.
