Inuit inspired harpoon kit.

Inuit inspired harpoon kit.

Description

Hey! This is a kit designed to help you make a fishing harpoon spear, ROUGHLY inspired by inuit harpoons often used for hunting large marine mammals, Given I have not an original to base this off of, i can only make rough guesses to details, but in any case ive used this to catch invasive carp, and it would probably work for other spear-legal rough-fish like sturgeon! it is designed to be used on a 1 inch dowel for the mainshaft, and have a 1/4th inch steel rod in the foreshaft for strength and weight. additionally, a metal or stone point will have to be made separately. i used kevlar for the string that attaches the toggle point to the boat/float. to do this, i threated the kevlar through the hole, then tied a few knots to ensure it can com back out. one side has an indent in the hole for the knots to fit cleanly into. to attach the base of the foreshaft, i drilled and rivited it into place using long brass rivets, just as i riveted the steel point in with a brass pin. the foreshaft is then attached to the shaft by tying strings through the holes in the foreshaft, and into holes in the main shaft. see the pictures, and if you are able to make a point for it, im sure youre smart enough to figure out how to put it together XD I hope you like it, and please send make pictures if you chose to make it! i printed everything in 100% infill skin coloured PLA, except the ball on the back, which i did in 40% infill.
